Cadet Commander's Welcome

Thank you for showing interest in the Civil Air Patrol. Our program provides a unique chance for youth and adults alike to learn through our three major missions: Emergency Services, Cadet Programs, and Aerospace Education. The following will provide a brief explanation of the three missions.

Emergency Services: ES plays a big part in the Civil Air Patrol; we, cadets and seniors, play an important role in disaster relief and Search and Rescue (SAR). Civil Air patrol members serve in positions varying from relief center workers to damage assessment, live organ transportation, search team aircrew, or search ground team members. We often work along side the United States Air Force, Sheriff’s department, American Red Cross, and other public service agencies
Cadet Programs: Possibly the largest factor in California Wing Civil Air Patrol; youth between the ages of 12 and 21 learn respect, discipline, integrity, professionalism, and other strengths from a military based system. In Cadet Programs a cadet begins as a cadet Airman basic and promotes up through the ranks by passing tests on Aerospace, Leadership, and Physical fitness. While progressing through the ranks a cadet learns how to lead; eventually teaching, commanding, or even traveling overseas.

Aerospace Education: In this field members are educated in the fields of flight and space. Topics include: Aircraft in Flight, Aircraft and their uses, Weather, Space exploration, Aerospace history, and careers. Training activities include model rocketry, powered and gliding flight time, special positions at airshows, tours, and many more.
