February 19-21, Central California Group XII held a Basic Cadet
School at the Group Headquarters in Fresno. Basic Cadet Schools are the first step in California Wing's unique Integrated Leadership Program . At a
BCS, cadets receive instruction in the basics of being a member in the Civil Air Patrol. A
staff of eight experienced cadet instructors from Groups XI and XII taught the students
about the wear of their BDUs, about the different parts of followership, about their
memory work, and about many other things important in a cadet's CAP career. To break up
the classes, the cadets also participated in drill labs, volleyball games, and a tour of
the nearby Fresno Air Terminal control tower. All 21 cadets that attended graduated the
afternoon of 21 Feb, showing that they had the potential to become the next wave of
leaders in CAP.
